Sugaring – Hair removal with sugar gel

Sugaring, or hair removal using sugar gel, is a gentle, long-lasting alternative to shaving or waxing. People have been using sugar paste to remove their body hair since 1900 BC. Even Cleopatra used this method to make her skin feel softer. Although it has existed for such a long time, sugaring has only recently caught on in Europe

How does sugaring works?

When removing hair with sugar, a lukewarm, honey-like paste made of sugar, lemon and water is applied to the skin. Rather than sticking to the skin, the tepid sugar paste bonds with the hair and dead skin cells and removes them gently. The sugar gel also acts as a skin peel. Intact skin cells are neither irritated nor removed. The treatment is rounded off by applying natural wellness products that help the skin pores close more quickly.

Hair removal for sensitive skin

Sugaring is less painful and is therefore particularly suitable for sensitive parts of the body. Individual hairs no longer break off, as the sugar gel – if used correctly – stays soft and flexible and can be mixed to suit all hair and root types. The result is a smooth, velvety soft skin that will stay that way for 4-6 weeks depending on the body part treated. Afterwards the hair will grow back; however, it will usually be finer and not stubbly. Sugaring is the only hair removal method known to make hair regrowth weaker, slower and less profuse if used over a period of years.

Advantages of Sugaring

Hair removal with sugar paste has numerous advantages compared to traditional methods.

• The sugar gel removes the hair in the direction of growth, which means that fewer hairs break and the skin is less irritated.
• The sugar paste is very skin-friendly and does not cause a rash or allergic reaction. Sugar also has anti-bacterial and peeling properties
• Sugaring is suitable for all body parts as the gel can easily be applied anywhere
• Hairs longer than 5 mm in length can be removed. For the best possible result, you should ideally book your sugaring treatment for 2 weeks after your last shave in summer and 2-3 weeks in winter
• The paste sticks lightly to the skin but much more firmly to hairs and dead skin cells, and is therefore very kind to the skin.

Hygiene

Body sugaring is a very hygienic process, as the sugar gel is only used once. Your clothing will not be stained after the treatment, as the gel can easily be washed off with lukewarm water.
